Greg Sadetsky Blog Archive O’Reilly Where 2.0 [Part 2]: Google Maps launches Street View: "

Round-up of what can be found at this hour:

- This file seems to indicate that 5 cities are available: Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and San Francisco.

- The Street View imagery is interactively provided by a small Flash application. It can be decompiled using Flare; its source code can be viewed here.

- The Street View tiles are coming from cbk0.google.com. Take a look at this example tile. The headers from the server indicate “Keyhole Server 2.4″. Is Google Earth support far away?

- The “panoid” values are coming from requests made to http://maps.google.com/cbk?output=xml&ll=[LAT,LNG], like this example request.

- At the bottom right of the application, “© 2007 Immersive” can be seen

- Some of the panoramic tiles have “rays of light”, as this one, perhaps artifacts from the automated stitching.
